View on "De Hofvijver", den Hague

Ca 1580-1600
8.7 x 26.2 cm (3 ³/₈ x 10 ¹/₄ inches)
Pen, Pencil and Goauche on Velumn.

On the foreground we can distinguish a procession with important figures escorted by soldiers.
A comparable view by Hans Bol but still with different figures and changes in the composition and colours in Copenhagen (SMK, National Gallery of Denmark, dated 1589).

On this spot ("Court Pond" in English) Den Hague seemed to be emerged. The Hofvijver is adjoined in by the Buitenhof and the Dutch parliament. The prime ministers office "Het Torentje" ("Little Tower"), adjoins the Hofvijver as it is located on the Binnenhof. Several museums, like the Mauritshuis, are located very near.
