David Teniers II The Younger
(Antwerp 1610 - Antwerp 1690 )
Landscape with Ruins and 2 figures

This little landscape is quite typical for Teniers' later work (around 1675-1690). During this period he was financially independent and more inspired by landscapes (on smaller and bigger scales) than by interiors. Teniers was the owner of a castle ("Dry Torens" in Perk) near Brussels and it's clear he found inspiration in the surrounding landscapes. Also the stylistic influence of Adriaen Brouwer (his main inspiration during his begining period) is clear.
