Samson rending the Lion

After Albrecht Dürer's famous etching (datable around 1497-98). Our work is possibly German, but can also be made in Antwerp, during Dürer's stay there in 1520 (inspiring many artists distributing his etchings).
The present panel depicts an episode from the Book of Judges 14:6, recounting Samson tearing up a lion apart with his bare hands ‘as if it were a child’.
Sold together with a 16th century gilted and wood-carved frame.
Oil on Panel, 35 x 25 cm

Price : € 9 500
