Fantastic landscape with Hunters and Travellers on a Crossroad
This ‘Brussels School’ painting was the result of a collaboration between two painters: De Vadder did the landscape and Bout did the figures. The collaboration between these two painters was not unusual.
Typical is the somewhat strange sandy landscape with ‘hollow roads’ and a pronounced colouring (yellow-green and a rather bright blue for the valley in the back) in which antromorphic figures (‘heads’) seem to be incorporated. The figuration is very colourful and detailed, almost in contrast to the landscape.
