Miniature portrait of a man
A fresh and lively portrait of a man with millstone collar ( introduced by Spaniards in the Southern Netherlands in the second half of the 16th century). The collar was meant to emphasise the wearer's status.
The inscription ‘35.’ is original and probably refers to the man's age. The miniature portrait still has the original sculpted frame.
Oil on copper, 9?§ x 7,3cm
